New year, not so new blog

Actually, that’s an absolutely massive understatement because it’s been well over 3 years. Yes, really! I’m in denial about that though because the London Marathon 2022, the subject of my last post, feels like yesterday.

Thales

Where do I begin? So much has happened in that intervening time, from the mundane to the major, but in a nutshell it’s been a time of self-discovery and loss – the highs and lows of life, I guess.

I will write more about that period over the coming months, as and when fancy takes me. I should say that, if past performance is anything to go by, it doesn’t take me very often, so – spoiler alert – it involves finding out rather late in life that I am neurodivergent and the death of my dad.

You might wonder why I have started blogging again now. It was suggested to me as a way to rediscover my spark, which towards the end of last year was feeling distinctly dulled. I’ve therefore done the ADHD thing of going in hard on something new and exciting, have purchased a 3-year WordPress plan, and am putting this blogpost out there, my first of 2026, as a way to (hopefully) hold myself accountable.

If you want to know what to expect, it’ll be my usual sporadic ramblings on running, food and life generally but I’m also going to write some rather more introspective posts as I continue to find out more about my differently wired brain – something that has become, dare I say, a special interest. Ultimately, this blog is for me and as such it also serves as a bit of a journal. Regardless, I hope you enjoy reading it too.

One big question remains: will I maintain it? We shall see…
